Proper gardening care can make it easier to grow your own vegetables and fruits. This will enhance the quality of your plants and prolong their lives. Different plant species require different amounts of sun and water, so be sure to pay attention before you start planting. Regardless of the type of crop you're growing, proper gardening care will help it thrive. Remember that gardening care is different for each type of plant. These are some ways to care for your outdoor plants.

It is important to water your plants frequently. Most plants will lose moisture over the course of the day, through a process known as transpiration. The water they lose must be absorbed by their roots. You should water your garden especially during summer because warmer temperatures will evaporate water. Also, plants require more water than usual during sunny days. You should check for pests or fertilizers, in addition to watering your plants.

How To

Organic fertilizers to be used in the garden

Organic fertilizers are made of natural substances like manure, compost and fish emulsion. The term "organic" refers to using non-synthetic materials in their production. Synthetic fertilizers are chemicals that are used in industrial processes. They are often used in agriculture since they provide nutrients to plants efficiently and quickly, without the need of complicated preparation. However, synthetic fertilizers pose risks to human health and the environment. In addition, they require large amounts of energy and water to produce. Runoff from synthetic fertilizers can also pollute groundwater and surface water. This pollution is harmful to wildlife and humans.

There are many organic fertilizers available:

* Manure - produced when livestock eat food containing nitrogen (a plant nutrient). It has bacteria and enzymes that help to break down the waste, resulting in simple compounds that are easy for plants to absorb.

* Compost is a mixture from vegetable scraps, grass clippings and decaying leaves. It is rich in carbon, nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium, magnesium and sulfur. It's porous so it is able to retain moisture well, and slowly releases nutrients.

* Fish Emulsion- A liquid product that is made from fish oil. It can dissolve oils and fats, similar to soap. It contains trace elements and phosphorous as well as nitrogen and nitrogen.

* Seaweed extract - A concentrated solution of minerals from kelp and red algae. It is a good source of vitamins A, C, iron, and iodine.

* Guano - Excreta from amphibians and seabirds. It is rich in nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium as well as sodium, magnesium, sulfate and chloride.

* Blood Meal - The remains of animals slaughtered. It is high in protein, making it suitable for feeding poultry and other livestock. It also contains trace mineral, phosphorus as well as potassium, nitrogen, and phosphorus.

Make organic fertilizer by combining equal parts manure, fish emulsion, and compost. Mix well. If you don't have all three ingredients, you can substitute them one for another. If you only have the fish-emulsion you can substitute one with another.

Apply the fertilizer by spreading it evenly using a tiller or shovel. The fertilizer should be about 1/4 cup per square foot. You will need to add more fertilizer every two weeks until you see signs of new growth.
